Dog Friendly Restaurants in Columbus

Columbus is a city catering to pets of all personas. Sophisticated pets sit with their owners in Schiller Park, enjoying the seasonal Shakespeare in the Park shows. Athletic pets can run around at Godown Park. Adventurous pets can walk side-by-side with their owners on the Hocking Hills State Park trails. And pets that like to party will stay entertained at the local pet-friendly breweries.

Regardless of which activities you line up for you and your pet, don’t forget to fit in meal time. Columbus has several pet-friendly restaurants, and these are some of our favorites!

Los Agaves Taqueria

Los Agaves Taqueria

Tasting the tacos at Los Agaves Taqueria feels like a rite of passage to say you’ve experienced one of the best dog-friendly restaurants in Columbus. Not only will you have delicious food from the popular food truck, but you’ll also get to cherish the moment with your pet by your side. So, plop a squat on the dining stool and dig in!

Los Agaves Taqueria’s bright orange food truck stands out so much that even dogs (who are color blind) can spot it! And if the paint job doesn’t do the trick, the aroma of sizzling Mexican food flooding the parking lot will indeed direct you towards the line.

Open till 8 PM every night except Sundays, any time is great to stop by with your pet. The Happy Agave Burrito will bring a smile to your face with each bite stuffed with marinated pastor meat, fresh tomatoes, and rice. Pair the birria tacos with a side of consumé for a typical Mexican meal. Hungry pet owners will be plenty satisfied after attempting to finish a plate of Alambre.

District North

After checking out the outdoor sculptures in the Columbus Museum of Art or relaxing in Capitol Square, Downtown Columbus has the perfect stop for you and your pet when you’re hungry—District North. They’ll adopt you both into the family and give you the best Mediterranean meal you could ask for.

It’s always fun to interact with the owner, who will happily receive pets to dine inside with you. Long wooden tables give the restaurant a community atmosphere where your pet might end up making a dinner pal for the evening.

District North specializes in Greek and Middle Eastern cuisine, bringing the best of the cultures’ dishes to Columbus. Warm pita bread holds a combination of chicken or beef with lettuce and house sauce to form the perfect shawarma. A succulent cut of lab sits atop a steaming bed of rice and vegetables, served when you order the lamb kabob. The menu also has healthy options like the traditional Greek salad, Horatiki Salad, or a falafel pita sandwich.

Smoked on High BBQ

Ohio has its hat in the ring for state with the best barbecue. At Smoked on High BBQ in the Brewery district, you and your pet will be the judge to see if you agree with the furry patrons who came before you. It’s a hearty meal that will wholeheartedly become your favorite Columbus barbecue spot.

You can always tell good barbecue by how it’s served. Smoked on High BBQ keeps to the traditions with trays and thin paper made see-through by the juicy meat and sides topping it. The district taste from the restaurant is thanks to using oak and hickory wood while smoking the meats for a hint of flavor.

The thick slices of brisket served alone or on a sandwich so tender that you’ll barely need your canine teeth to rip apart. Double fist the chicken dummies to ensure your mouth always stays occupied chewing the smoky skin and juicy meat. The sides are just as delicious, with homemade flavors of Mac and cheese, greens, and slaw.

Bistrolino

Bistrolino

Ciao! Experience Europe at Bistrolino without having to step a paw outside of Columbus. Located in German Village, the kitchen chefs up Italian and Mediterranean dishes that are as close to the real thing as being there in person.

Comfort food from the Mediterranean is a lesson in culture for you and your pet as you dine in a European setting surrounded by the district’s European-style buildings on a brick patio reminiscent of a charming Milanese eatery.

Try the traditional-style Za’atar Mankoushe, a seasoned bread, for your appetizer. Next, scoop up beefy meatballs hidden beneath a blanket of parmesan cheese in the meatball parmigiana. Finally, sprinkle pepper and oregano to spice up the Margherita pizza—cheese barely hangs on as you lift a slice from the pie.

Whether you opted for a bottle of wine or not to accompany your meal, cocktails from the restaurant’s Ferdinand Lounge are always a spirited follow-up drink.

Chicken & Tea

Chicken & Tea

As long as your dog doesn’t make a fuss about the cat-inspired logo of Chicken & Tea, it will have a great time dining with you at this popular Taiwanese food truck. Chicken & Tea changes locations for events and pop-ups, but its most frequent site is adjacent to the Union Cemetery. If you’ve visited enough times with your pet, they’ll recognize you regardless of where you stumble upon them.

The bubbly-spirit servers will cheerfully fix you one of their signature bubble milk teas to sip while you wait. For Taiwanese favorites, order seasoned Taiwan chicken. Play peek-a-boo with your pet behind the juicy fried chicken cutlet large enough to hide your entire face. The chicken nuggets are better than their fast food counterparts as they’re drizzled with sauce and served with green beans. Your meal is never finished till after you’ve tried the Asian sweet buns for dessert.

Chicken & Tea is only open during the week unless vending at a local event.
